'Man'

'Man'

A Poem by Ink Seductress
"

The land of the free---

"

We live in a world now where babies no longer crave the milk from their mothers’ breast,

But crave the sweet, sweet blood that pumps along their veins.

Despair and grief has spread, it has become a worldwide disease,

Now you can hear cries ring out through the night,

Lamenting howls, of torturous, agonizing pain.

Spouses have long forgotten the meaning of; ‘Until death do we part’,

Children are cursed before birth, born in to a broken house,

And you can still stand before the world and tell them,

“This is America, the land of the free.”?

Tell me, who is free? Who is considered equal?

We are in a world where the color of your skin is glared upon if it’s not white,

We are in a world where innocent blood is spilled,

Where it runs upon the sidewalks, painting them crimson.

We are in a world where hate is our motto, and blood soaks our hands,

Where the government is our hierarchy and we are the stands,

Where our children will never know the meaning of equality between men,

Where evil reigns in the disguise of ‘Man’--

Until all men accept equality as a right not a privilege to be granted nor withheld there will be blood. Communities will polarize and the interfaces will become battlegrounds. No winners in that scenario. Racism by stealth used to be the order of the day now they dont even care who sees what they do anymore - for they have been given carte blanche by the powers that be - only the top tiny percentage fool themselves anymore that they are free, in the manner as was envisaged by the founding fathers, and they are always looking over shoulders - what kind of freedom is that.
Most countries have followed suit. Freedom dies a slow lingering death while we look on wringing our hands and wailing and gnashing our teeth as was foretold.

Well written political/humanitarian words Niyia

When we the people stop looking away, stop settling, stop saying "Not my problem" then this will abate. Until then we have to keep speaking.
Well penned.

A true testimony to the times we live in. I at times wonder if we are creating our own destruction ..with everything we claim as modern life. It is by and large story of every country.

you have written very powerful poem, the Man is power hungry and power is the most driven force on this earth. The leaders want powers and spending our money on bombs.

I couldn't agree with you more, Daniel Webster said in the 1800's that the day you take God out of education you will raise up a nation of criminals. We as Americans need to vote out every politician in office and that would send a message to them. God is no respecter of persons can we say the same about our churches and society? You have given a good example in this poem God bless

Historically speaking the first half of the twentieth century takes the fucked up world prize. Not a bad poem. I didn't drift off while reading it so that's gotta be good
