Less Than Perfect

Less Than Perfect

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Less than Perfect

She apologized to him

for years that had taken their toll.

For auburn hair that had lost its luster,

and delicate features

that were less than perfect.

He apologized to her

for the guise of gray that clearly shown.

For hands now trembling

at the mere anticipation

of bodies merging,

of lips pressing hard.

After years of being denied

their passion was consummately fed

Slow and methodical,

heeding no apologies.

The passion lingers on Kelly, its good to know being up that way myself lol, a very touching and somehow melancholy poem, the passion reignited between lovers of a certain age, they found their beginnings again, just beautiful :)

I can't help but think of my mother and her husband,
they married just over 20 years ago,
She is 87 and he is 93 now.
She tells me that she is more cabbage looking than she is green.
I guess that means she is still getting some.

That or she still wants it.

Either way, Love your poem. Very deep and beyond your norm.
so wonderfully expressed and tenderly painted.

Andrew've impacted the world with the art of his artistic-visions shown in his paintings. Something very possessive, soft & breathlessly-touchy he dappled 'pon the frame of.. one of his above paintings which rendering the message of perfections... to the world. Additionally, you've just completed his art... by means of letting your cushiony hand jotting down such a marvelous piece... into pages. Where at one hand, Stefan takes a ride to kiss your heart with an art of romance, Andrew seems to be able to flourish that romance.. in the pursuit of radiant analogies of his... visions. Very beautiful poetry you've pen'd on!

"Less Than Perfect" is seemed to be one of my fav. title ever and am very impressed with your anew art!

I guess, i've given you a "reason" either... to smile.
I was truly touched by this! Pricked my heart a little too! When we meet our love in our youthful years, we appear to them as perfect. But as passionate honeymoon fades out, our "imperfections" cannot hide forever, especially through time. But passion can either go or it can transform into love, true and eternal love...then we see one another for what we truly are, and we love each other anyways.

This one really resonated with me. There is a sadness for so much time lost, yet the thrill of anticipation of what the time ahead promises to bring.

Splendid write.

Thank you, Lynn...I am happy you enjoyed it!
This paints for me a picture of two people meeting in later life, perhaps after many years of watching one another from afar and at long last being able to express their love. As always eloquent and tasteful ant artistically presented Kelly.
