Leftover Love

Leftover Love

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Leftover Love

I never dreamed

you’d walk away

leaving me to figure out

the small stuff,

with empty bottles of Grey Goose Vodka

and a mattress fit for a King,

playing solitaire

upon the high thread count of sheets

of an unmade bed,

of a leftover love.

So short, so sweet tears ones' heart out! Haven't we all been there, at one time
or another?

Take care - Dave

You are so welcome dear friend...
Oh this so fantastic.. somber, gray, tragic.. an uttering from the heart's place of brokenness and those who leave us do not have a care as to how we will pick up the pieces and tend to the "leftover" details... they leave us broken to fix and figure all of it out.

It's a universal feeling I believe most of us can relate to. Thank you, dear heart!

I feel the same. You're always welcome!
Simple yet fantastic with such graphic imagery to show how a broken heart feels when the love is gone. Wonderful.

You like Grey Goose don't you? :)

The poem is succinct and so relatable. Sensually forlorn, love the graphic too. Bravo.

Sure Kelly. :) I'm familiar with the lovely motif, I prefer SKYY myself.
just like the pic. of that bare lady, your words're too so naked & well strewn ov'r the sheet with bed. the sense of sensitivity with sensuous touche of intimacy's what you betcha know how to render or betcha serve to your readers-cum-lovers. beautiful, as always, again. i admire you for the choice of title as well: "leftover love". what a catchy title! brilliant!

Kelly, you always say so much in so few lines... each word a gift form your sensitive and sensual mind. From what arcane deck of cards did you pull "count of sheets" ... Love it. Just popping in for a bit, but I know now that I absolutely NEED to see what else you've been writing..

I love how your poetry is always so real!all your naked truths expose.makes me as a reader want to delve in more. See, hear, and feel all that I can through your poetry. Even though we aren't friends in real life...you leave me vulnerable to you. That's the mark of pure talent!kudos doll!
