The Nirvana of Morning

The Nirvana of Morning

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The nirvana Of morning

Please don’t speak

until the stirring of

a rounded teaspoon

can be heard…

at least not until

the circumference of

a cup greets

the finely granulated crystals

of sugar,

and the fluidity of cream…

not a moment before

my tongue is sated

and the sun peers into

my cataleptic consciousness,

and I am methodically awakened by

the nirvana of morning.

After what seemed endless years of living in darkness, I now can understand your beautiful stirrings, this glory of the morning, coffee-scented sunrise. Drink deep and embrace this sacred New Year, Kelly. xo

That's a plan, yes? To write a very happy new year. :)
Here it's a brief visit outdoors for Jackson, treats, food for my hairy friend. There is a 15 minute wait before the plunge of my coffee pot. Black like sin I sink into the evils of caffeine.

Great write Kelly!

Regards,
Al

...you've got it!! Lol, thank you so much for your time and kindness!
I've tried to explain this feeling so many times. I love the peaceful almost bubbly-ness of morning, and you used so nice language to describe it.

Simply stunning, as per your usual poetry. 'cataleptic consciousness' can I use that? ;) You always find the best graphics too!

...you are too much! x
An extremely beautiful piece about a simple cup of coffee. Give the simplest of things to a poet and they'll give you an entire world.

Well done, Kelly; from word choice to intricate description. Stunning!

This is extremely well written and captures mood, feeling and thought so beautifully. I love the words "nirvana" and "cataleptic" - very peaceful yet strong words that say so much. I often feel this way in the morning as well. Nice job.

Thank you, Pete. It seems like a lot of us feel the same way!
I bet a book could be made of all the poems about coffee. Very nice, even though "sugar in my coffee makes me mean" (Big Sugar)

I find it hard to believe YOU could be so mean! ...thank you, Kara!
Coffee is like sunshine for my taste buds. I need it every morning to bring my smile. This is lovely, Kelly. A feel good morning.
