A shade of gray

A shade of gray

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The shattered glass

upon the floor

gave credence

to her doubts once more

for there,

within the matted frame

a love had vowed

to never wane.

Image result for black and white photography of heartache

A promise

that beckoned to be true,

was dressed in something old

and new…

and wearing a smile

handsomely portrayed,

deception wore

a shade of gray.

Your words flow like a dark music, and even the shards of glass reveal light from the past, mementos of days gone by. Yet, what seemed of love was only cloaking pain. So powerfully stirring.

Always good to be seen! :)
That's how it can be for most.
When you are filled with hope and it suddenly dawns on you that you are a victim of deception.
Very nicely expressed.

Thank you kindly, Shabeeh!
My sky is overcast with grey right now and every line in this poems seeps down to my core. We are so helpless when it comes to deception...You capture the heartbreak so amazingly....

You are welcome Kelly :)
Kelly, very powerful.
I've taken pictures (the something old and something new one) and have smashed them.
It feels good for about five minutes and then it sinks in, and the sinking in sucks. Great little poem. Hurts.

kelly - my interpretation as always
only the author knows the true meaning
I'm sure many can relate to this poem, Kelly! Many peoples' lives seem to go down that path these days, alas! Well penned indeed!

Many thanks, Robert!
How to fairy tale weddings turn out to be nightmares? We see it all around us. Is it deception or is it failure to truly see the other person? The imagery in this one is stunning. Lydi**

dear Kelly... shattered dreams that steal away into a grey ghost-like mist... only to appear as rain on your window pane. Perhaps haunting memories will awaken possibilities. truly, Pat

Deception is always dressed in shades of gray, but then life is lived in shades of gray. There are no absolutes. Good write, Kelly.
