In Earnest of a Butterfly

In Earnest of a Butterfly

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

In Earnest of a Butterfly

I caught a fleeting glimpse today
of a monarch butterfly

there,

before my naked eye
he fluttered by

as though shopping for a daisy

I inquisitively stood

as he came into view,
scrutinizing the idiosyncrasies of
his tapered wings

Magnificent was he,

levitating to loftier heights

like a dancing string

to the tail of a kite ~

I caught!

I loved the idea of catching a glimpse
how fortunate, if only to see, the magnificence of grace

oh wow, on your last stanza...

and then we let the kite go...if you love something let it go, maybe it will fly back to you...as they say.

picturesque poem, Kelly

Beautiful words and artwork. I love the butterflies. When we see them. Make us believe in magic and in beauty. I liked your description. Gave life to the artwork. Thank you dear Kelly for sharing the amazing poetry.
