Lover Mine

lover mine

 

lover mine…he is the thread

through a needle’s eye…the preface

to a book i can never put down…a

crudité of pleasure ever sated upon

my tongue…he is the rush of bated

breath…the wind beneath my tattered

wing…the prayer that brings me to

my knees…he is theStradivarius to

my rosin bow, with eyes of a cerulean

blue …he is the lump in my throat that

beats like the hooves of a thousand steeds…

the hand that rests upon my thigh

on long afternoons of driving north and

yielding slow…the inventory of a stare,

he is…lover mine.

A funny thing happened when I went to edit this. I lost the formation of the poem and for some reason, the copying and pasting of it wouldn't take. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, trying to figure out what to do...plus, with all the problems I've been having with the pages here being unresponsive, I didn't know what was actually getting through the way I intended it to. All that space was the hardest to eliminate - no matter what I did, I couldn't get the page to respond. Oh well, reading your review certainly made up for all of that.
