Chasing You

Chasing You

A Poem by MusicHack

I see the happy people
Under the church and steeple
They laugh and they cry
They smile and they sigh.
The ground has turned cold
From the moment I was told
The gun was now empty
And I heard that you left me
And I held your cold body
And I said I was sorry
Sorry for all that I’ve done
Sorry for all the times I’ve been wrong
The nights, with dreams too long
“No, no, don’t go,”
I’m chanting to and fro
“Stay here, stay with me,”
I repeat, but you just let me be
I see your face
I hear your voice
I miss the chase
Our game of choice
You run away, your face alight,
I follow, my darkness turned to light
Oh, how that came to be too true
Oh, how now I’m still chasing you
