on a billboard in the sky,

the "about the author" section in a prize winning novel,

        and in the smiles that follow my thoughts.

Someone like you is etched onto my heart,

carved into my soul,

and tethered to my sleeve.

 

How can I say good bye,

when you'll be back soon after you've conquered the world,

soon after you've discovered life on the moon,

soon after you've defined the product of "X" and "0"

soon after you've inspired all the people who will cross your path,

soon after you've fallen in love,

soon after you've taken your biggest chances at life.

 

Someone like you will never really leave,

never permanently.
