The People

The People

A Poem by Princess Belle

What a scream
What a face
What a dark place
With cobweb lace

The death of a butterfly
Questions why
But the people only sigh
As they watch an ally die

The suffocating pride
Kept the people wide eyed
But they let the pain subside
As another hero died

The overdue sympathy
Created only misery
Confused the joker and his trickery
As another lay in melancholy

I normally do not care for rhymes, because often in the attempt to make a poem rhyme, the author loses the meaning the poem could have had. However, you did a wonderful job here of not losing that meaning. I hope to read more from you, and I'm quite glad you entered my contest.
