Damn that Overhead

Damn that Overhead

A Poem by The John Fredrick Carver

Hand out the lyrics and let them read them beforehand, Jesus says.

I love you guys but God's the music that sings

Where there is no love the drum roll is confused and breaks up

It makes a horrible sound like a guitar when it rings

And the feedback waves liquids in the crowds' not drunk cup

You want to applaud and revel in excited screams

Like drives the chords of parties with cheers for the just

Not in gentle breezes but gusting louder than dreams

The difference between being blessed and cussed

But do not try to read what's on the overhead

Just hear them shout the joys of the very good news

The overhead is confusing and leaves you dead

It moves too fast and you can't read that fast so choose

God's words when heard and not the thundering beat

That stirs God's holy words in you though it's incomplete.

Author's Note

The John Fredrick Carver
It's not the music. it's them damnable overheads. The music really doesn't matter to God and so it is merely noise in the church if you can't read all those words that fast and see what's going on. Handouts can be read before or after. Dump the overheads. In the name of Jesus you guys they are dying out there trying to get in.
