Nothing More

Nothing More

A Poem by Vague

My life will be the glinting rays of light

Stretching from the window - out into the streets

I will walk in leering dark, wondering:

"What have I done? And in whose name?"

I'll breathe this time, because I have to, but

Well if I say it wouldn't matter, knowing them...

I told the sky how much I loved her, last time it rained.

But not even the rain can hold light in their hands

It can break, stop, or bend - not held, never again

Until nothing more than a faded consequence.

A silver-plated pocket watch lies ticking on a desk

A soul-baring Sax cries out loudly down the street

So flies from these strings the glinting rays I will be

They are beautiful, they are something, they are free

Silent on moonlit wings, they are nothing more.

'lays' would be proper, but I prefer 'lies.' Thoughts?

About
I just thought I'd try letting other people besides close friends read my poems. I think from what I've seen so far I can expect constructive responses. Some of the longer ones are old and not reall.. more..
