Autumn Art

Autumn Art

A Poem by Kiwi
"

A poem I wrote on the Autumn Equinox of '07. A fantastical view of the approach of fall.

"

I wrote this when I was in a Faerie-fantasy mood.  The solstices and equinoxes tend to bring that out in me.  Surprisingly, I enjoy the rhyme scheme and word choice.  The poem makes me smile.  Hopefully it stirs something similar from you.

Leaves preparing for color:

Anticipation of paint-by-numbers

With the scrawl of young Faeries’ hands,

Untried and striking fumblers.

Wings of dazzling orange

And profound fluorescent red

Alight upon the lush, veined surface

And smiling, colors spread.

The sky does grin to see it

And though the sun begins to nap,

The Faeries will return fair soon

To provide the snow flake’s map.

When the leaves begin to tumble

From their situation high,

The grass will offer giggles

To colored rain that falls from sky.

The day time will begin to bow

To deep, dark night’s great presence;

And with Faerie lights to guide the dew,

Will provide the morn’s sweet essence.

This color that awaits us all

May leave some baited breath, or

Excitement surges through the spines

Of the Fae in fire-lit heath’r.
