Lukewarm

Lukewarm

A Poem by Nansi London
"

here's another that I wrote for a contest. The promt was 'I'm Losing My Mind!' So I had to right something tragic and the effect that it took on my mental. And here it is...oh and yes, I won gold.

"

Ear splitting schreeches,
A thunderous clash.
Life slowly dwindling..
death coming too fast...

Metal on Metal.
Metal to Road.
Drunk to Sober.
Hot to Cold...

Blood stained hands
Crushed and shattered bones.
Shards of thick glasses
Pain saturated moans.

Metal On Metal
Metal To Road.
Drunk To Sober
Hot to Cold.

Death against Life.
Locked viciously in battle.
sixteen cans of beer
and a baby bottle.

Metal On Metal
Metal To Road.
Drunk To Sober
Hot to Cold.

Sirens blaring.
Inhaling Gasoline.
Lukewarm alchohol..
No longer in my viens.

Metal On Metal
Metal To Road.
Drunk To Sober
Hot to Cold.

Gripped by an arm,
One point for Life.
But the two for Death....
...were my child and wife...

Metal On Metal
Metal To Road.
Drunk To Sober
Hot to Cold.

Chilled by the cold wind...
Ensuring death was gone...
Life stood next to me...
Leaving me Lukewarm.

Metal On Metal
Metal To Road.
Drunk To Sober
Hot to Cold...

This poem hits so close to home. My daughter was in an accident where alcohol was involved. Thankfully she was ok. But I was ready to kill. It took a lot to keep my composure. If the kid had made one more remark I probably would have been sent to jail.
The poem is good. It speaks so well of the numbness that that alcohol can cause in a person.

Wow this is amazing the way it flowed was awesome and you created such a vivid picture. This left me with tears in my eyes no joke. Though a painfully sad write it is also beautiful and an eye opener. Maybe someone will read this and think twice about driving drunk. Just a fabulous write...
