Flaxen fireplaces

Flaxen fireplaces

A Chapter by Moonie
"

This poem is about the incorrect perceptions of security that haunt the human psych.

"
Flaxen fireplaces
with shiny mantelpieces
beckon me.

They call me in mysterious ways.
On winter nights through
moths and icy leaves,
when I stop and linger--
the warmth of a distant hut
calls me,
whispers my name.
"All is deception," my instincts claim.
But my heart gives way,
I slip quietly away.
Pull my cloak up and wander
to those strange fireplaces
which, I know, are yarns of delusion..

Moon daughter, you are wonderful to read. I love the imagery. You have such a sweet, gentle writing voice, and I could read your stuff all night. I love how you ended this one..
"I slip quietly away.
Pull my cloak up and wander
to those strange fireplaces
which, I know, are yarns of delusion."...beautiful and mysterious...a great combination.

Mystical and spoken of in words from long before we ruined the world... Really enjoyed this!

The personification of the fireplace is excellent and the dark, but not chilling, msterious feel of your words draws the reader in. Excellent writing. You are very talented!

A great analogy of insecure security with all its warm and fiery feelings. Excellent...:)............

Thank you, dear Amduscia. Iam glad you liked this one.
Hmm . . . the invisible barrier, an oasis to the thirst-craven . . . a wayfarer who sees beyond the world of reality (at least current) an yearns for the existence that's just beyond reach. It's the equivalent of the wanderer walking down God's path, with each mile gained, a distraction arises, pulling them back two-miles, salvation and happiness is in sight, but reaching that destination is a long arduous journey, and the wanderer can only trudge onward, deflecting and reflecting his tribulations with the best of his abilities. Or, I could be way off, and we're really talking about fire-places. . . been known to happen, if so disregard first portion of review.

The poem is amazing.

I wanted to know more. I like the internal thoughts and the statements leading to the open ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

The innocent foolishness plays to opening lines very well.

Thanks for such a lovely comment. :)
I am glad you like it.
I just couldn't actually link the description with the meaning I got from the poem 😞
Why should the fire places promising to induce warmth tend to be a lie?! I got confused... I apologize....
You're talented a plenty, and can always use the precise vocabulary to create extravagant images! Keep writing and shine on, dear ferocious An'ou'shka ;)
Best of luck!
