Flaxen fireplaces

Flaxen fireplaces

A Chapter by Moonie
"

This poem is about the incorrect perceptions of security that haunt the human psych.

"
Flaxen fireplaces
with shiny mantelpieces
beckon me.

They call me in mysterious ways.
On winter nights through
moths and icy leaves,
when I stop and linger--
the warmth of a distant hut
calls me,
whispers my name.
"All is deception," my instincts claim.
But my heart gives way,
I slip quietly away.
Pull my cloak up and wander
to those strange fireplaces
which, I know, are yarns of delusion..

Moon daughter, you are wonderful to read. I love the imagery. You have such a sweet, gentle writing voice, and I could read your stuff all night. I love how you ended this one..
"I slip quietly away.
Pull my cloak up and wander
to those strange fireplaces
which, I know, are yarns of delusion."...beautiful and mysterious...a great combination.

Good job! You made the fireplace so alive, that I could just see it calling the persona. It is impressive that you are able to write a short poem, but I know and feel the character. The imagery was really good and the haunting mood you do so well with. Keep writing!

Love the personification here of the fireplace, like a lover luring you to into their trap, refreshing, like a winter read, since it's so hot here! Well done Moon!

"Flaxen fireplaces with shiny mantelpieces"--very imaginative and probably not something I would think of myself! :) But it truly works, conveying a false sense of warmth...
