The Wings of Icarus

The Wings of Icarus

A Poem by Nathan Thompson
"

To those that fail before they try because they haven't the courage to go for their dreams, please read this.

"

I woke up once in clear morning night,

From the land of dreams with dry crust eyes,

And from my window saw the rise

Of future times with the strong sun light.

Dismay filled my sad old heart for when

I thought of life’s opulent swan songs,

Sung too late, held back from the one that longs

To hear their voice, over the quiet glen.

But Icarus wings are not for all.

The road to dreams, paved with melted wings,

Is a road with risks for all it brings.

But not to fly when you fear a fall

Is a waste of your strong full feathers.

So fly you people who dare to dream

Of the suns kiss upon you naked brow,

And show the world you’ll win, you’ll grow.

The road to fulfilling ones dreams likened to the wings of Icarus....wonderful. May your friend find the dreams she is chasing after.

thanks for sharing this, the hawk and his strong sure wings intrigues me daily, as does the robin and the jay

I agree with your words. Dreams can open doors to great things and things of disappointment also. I study dreams for many years. To allow dreams to run free can show you where you need to be. I like the complete poem. A very good ending to a excellent poem.

I will take the poem for myself as well, having walked in the shadow of Icarian wings along singing shores through the drizzle of wax and feathers.

The poem is beautiful in its flow and in its imagery. This poem is a stunning poem to write for a friend and it tells a tale of living life to the fullest and taking challenges.
