Kingdom Sonnet

Kingdom Sonnet

A Poem by Nathan Baretto
"

A sonnet from the perspective of the king's son.

"
My father has risen, greeting the land.
My mother's beside him, holding his hand.
So I stand and I at gaze the power they hold.
The best of the kingdom as so I was told.
For everyone gathers, in amazement to see,
the riveting ruler that one day I'll be.
And setting the orders is a mandation of mine,
by fulfilling the wishes of those in my time.
While requesting from no one, granting from few.
I'll track down all my foes, and capture them too.
So as I think to the future of my upcoming throne,
I recall the authority that I have been shown.
For when the people are ready, and joyous to sing
Their control will commence, declaring me king!
