Being a soldier....

Stop Wars!

Being a sturdy soldier

Wearing the military gear

Pointing the gun sans fear

I stood.

 

I thought of my Lady

Awaiting me with hope steady

Loving her I am ready

Leaving her I am not.

 

I looked at the ‘enemy’ in front

Guarding the rival front

Sizing me with a gun and grunt

Ready to fire.

 

“Shoot and kill

Or get shot and die”

I resonated.

 

I scanned up my rival

With a thought which ain’t trivial

“He reflects me”- also the vial

That injected in me the rare Empathy.

 

Behold! I am a danger

To an innocent stranger

Awaited upon by his Lover

With hopes and desires.

 

We serve our nation

With Love & obligation

Leaving the humane sensation

In stark darkness.

 

I lowered my deadly gun

With a smile under the blazing sun

And backwards I spun

Leaving my rival agape.

Author's Note

I don't know if this can ever happen in a real battlefield...
The soldier in my poem doesn't represent betrayal. He represents the humane side of every soldier who sweat and slave for their nation.......
During wars, thousands of innocent soldiers are killed.
They are the scapegoats to protect the shallow interests of shallow leaders.
Wars have to be stopped for the greater good...
