Long gone past

Long gone past

A Poem by Neva

Word spoken of a long gone past
Of a life I knew would never last
Memories I left behind me
I'm no longer who I used to be

As I confide it all in you
You condemn me, even though
You should know that's no longer me
Oh, why couldn't you just let it be

My former self isn't who I became
So why judge, as if it's the same?
It fills my heart with remorse
Opening up made everything worse

I cannot undo the mistakes I made
But I can tell you that I am ashamed
I regret many of the things I did
I hope it's something you can forgive

I'm sorry for my long gone past
