No Happiness without Sorrow

No Happiness without Sorrow

A Poem by Neva

My own personal walls surrounding me
Protecting me from the evil and pain
Wanting to live a life without fear
But the walls became my prison
This protection became a curse
Coldness and emotionless

Nobody can become truly happy
If they have never felt pain
Nobody gets to heaven
If they haven't been through hell
Nobody can appreciate a thing
They have never lived without

You walked right through my facade
Got under my skin, took my breath away
Touched my heart, gave me strength
Saving me from my personal prison
Gave me back a life with hopes and joy
But also fear

Nobody can become truly happy
If they have never felt pain
Nobody gets to heaven
If they haven't been through hell
Nobody can appreciate a thing
They have never lived without

What is Victory without Sacrifice?
What is Happiness without Sorrow?

Break me apart, Heal me again
Use me, Abuse me, Hold me, Love me
Make me feel the beauty of the pain
Become my own personal protector..

Nobody can become truly happy
If they have never felt pain
Nobody gets to heaven
If they haven't been through hell
Nobody can appreciate a thing
They have never lived without

Never making mistakes is not to live
Sometimes risks is better than safety
Just have to keep holding on
Remember our goals, our hopes, believes
Never to forget what means the most
The love we created...

Wow, "the beauty of pain." This has to be my favorite phrase in the entire poem. It seems to sum up the message, the feeling, or at least what I got from it. I absolutely loved this poem. So many people curse at pain and misery, sorrow and misfortune. But anyone who believe in yin and yang, understands that life needs balance and there is no balance without good and bad. I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but I loved it nonetheless. Good job.
