FlightA Chapter by Never-SaneCh 5Chapter 5 Flight A week had gone by at Fratres Volucris and half the class had
dwindled. Jesik just watched as people with technopathy, invisibility,
superhuman speed, and more left room 201, not wanting to go near his powers
again. At least he still had Sam.
“He’s amazing!” Rue had said. “My
old mentor’s crest in what we call the sight. It’s the same crest the academy
uses to find each of you. She’s one of the best seekers in the world. Since
there are only fifteen of you left I’ve asked her to come here, tomorrow.
She’ll be able to help you find your powers.” Mr. Сд™иг said. “Awesome! I can’t wait.” Sam twitched in
his seat. Jesik, on the other hand, wasn’t so
excited; for some reason he had an eerie feeling about this. “My name is Madam Siena. I’m a level 9
crest and I have the sight.” Madam Siena was old and wore bright blue
and pink make up. For a second Jesik thought it was a joke. Her dress barley
covered her four inch pumps and he was amazed that she could stand. “I want to thank you very much for coming,
Siena.” Mr. Сд™иг said. “Anything for my Adrian.” She squeezed his
cheeks. “Now someone come to Madam Siena.” With those words Sam bolted upward. A
large smile split across his face. Sam’s heart was racing a thousand beats a
minute. “Give me your hands, dear.” She took his hands and closed her eyed…then
laughed. “I’m not the one to help you, I’m sorry.” Sam’s mouth flung open but no words came
out. “Don’t worry, all in due time.” But her
words gave no comfort to him. “Next” Paul, a snooty rich boy, went up next. “Brace
yourself.” He flipped his nose up. Madam Siena grabbed his hands and closed
her eyes, than she giggled again. “Can tell mine either? I told you she’s a
crock.” “No, I can see yours…Its just funny.” The smile on Paul’s face faded. “What is
it then?” “Light” She said simply. ”Next” “And how is that funny?” “You’ll see” she smirked. “Next” her eyes
fell on Jesik. Jesik stepped forward; his stomach was
flopping like a fish. His mind wondered about his overwhelming powers inside. Madam Siena gently gripped his hands in
her and an icy chill ran down his spine; a feeling he’d been having a lot here.
She closed her eyes and the second they shut they snapped open again. Her face was blank, the normal cheer long
gone. A small tear formed in the corner of her eye as she said, “I never
thought I’d live to see the day.” Jesik tore his hands from hers. “I’m sorry;
I’m not feeling well anymore. I’ll finish this up tomorrow. For now, I must
retire to my quarters.” Before leaving she pulled Jesik aside and said, “Don’t
fight it. Take flight Jesik.” That night Jesik couldn’t sleep. He got up
to go to the bathroom but heard talking down the hall. Jesik followed the
voices and when he rounded the corner to the main entrance he saw a clean cut
man bringing a knife down on madam Lunsa. Jesik bolted up in his bed, sweat dripping
down his face and two lines on either side of his back burned. Just a bad dream he reassured himself
but he couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong. So he threw the blankets
off and head down stairs. © 2012 Never-Sane |
