Friday Night

Friday Night

A Poem by Dan
"

A typical end of week blowout in any town.

"

Friday Night...

I'm sinking them, one after one I am drinking,

Shot after shot of Jack Daniels not thinking,

How wretched and ghastly I'll be in the morning,

Tomorrow should carry a government warning,

But right now I'm wearing a gormless big grin,

Not really knowing what state I am in.

On looking around, I notice nearby,

A girl draped all over a slobbering guy,

I'm listening in to the pair's conversation,

He issues the girl with a crude invitation;

"I ain't like the others, blokes ain't all the same,

Come back to my place and we'll play a game -

snakes and ladders" he adds, beginning to smile,

"You what?" says the girl who's been drinking a while,

"The snake in my pants meets the ladder in your tights!"

And I can't help but laugh as she knocks out his lights.

Shocked silence abound as he squirms on the floor,

Which erupts in to cheers as he's thrown out the door,

I chat to the girl, I'm beginning to like her,

Then along comes her fella; a 16 stone biker!

His forehead is sporting a "BOLLOCKS" tattoo,

And some other dude's teeth are lodged in his shoe,

So I leave while I still have the use of both legs,

After grabbing my glass and draining the dregs,

I'm outside and one word is etched on my brain,

I'm hearing "kebab" again and again,

So I pay my five quid for some crap in a bap,

And proceed then to spill it all over my lap.

Home now and - hang on - I can't find my key,

So I water the garden with some eau de me,

My head hits the pillow, and soon it will snore,

I dream of next Friday, when I'll do it once more...
