The Last Hurt

The Last Hurt

A Poem by Neville

The Last Hurt

When were you last hurt

I don’t just mean let down

or disappointed

I mean really hurt

The kind of stabbed in the

Back hurt

You told me about this morning

The twisted knife in the

Gut hurt

You once frequently referred to

When were you last hurt

Come on baby tell me

Hey did I just call you baby

I bet that stings a bit

Have you ever been in agony

I doubt it

I don’t just mean a niggle or an ache

I mean abject misery

No I thought not

Never mind it will find you

Believe me you have earned it

I dunno, for me the last true hurt was one of acceptance, like I saw the betrayal happening but finding it happening despite my expectations hurt the most... but pain is relative and everyone has their own tolerance/perspective of it. Nevertheless I find the depiction of this very good, well-delivered. Good work!

we can never understand human nature despite the many lessons and experiences, there is something mystical and peculiar the only thing that we can do is to accept and understand and maybe in time to learn to forgive and bury the pain

Not even a sadness hidden there, only a bitterness to defy a once seemingly gentle, beautiful mind. How often the innocent are hurt, pure and blameless that they are. Can only guess - though too often wrong, that dreams don't always come true, nor truths fade from the memory. What a tragedy of words: those final seven lines.

Yes people really can hurt you the closer they are to you the quicker they know how to sick out your weaknesses and pretend they do not care. That they actually hurt you. And eloquently said.

Oh my, betrayal, betrayal, betrayal. That type of hurt is twisted in the gut hurt, when everything you thought you had is trampled on and laughed at to your face. Anything else pales into insignificance. Your last lines, killer lines. This reads like a conversation. Not one that I would like to be party to. You convey the message here with a pointed tongue. A very sharp tongue indeed.
