Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue

A Poem by Neville

Out of the Blue

It was not until

She placed

Her perfumed

Finger tips

Upon those

Very perfect lips

He drew lazy

Circles on

Last night

She ever

Realised that

Marriage kids

And roses

Round the door

Were no longer

On the menu

But were

Dreams she had

Since she was

Just a little girl

With freckles

Ankle socks

And lollipop's

Somewhere else

And once upon

A time

Whilst elsewhere

It did

Dawn on her

She had been oh

So very wrong

About so many

Other things besides

Thereafter though

To pardon him

Of all the blame

She had once cast

When anger burnt

Both brain and heart

She opened up

And cried

Moments such as this

She said

Might be all

We ever have

I know

Yet I would

Rather these

Than all the bruises

And the lies

So many men

Have given me

In days long past

I now choose freely

To forget

And willingly let go

Neville, you surely connected with many women and men here. Age might bring wisdom, but it also crushes our childlike dreams and expectations. And, after the highs and lows, we indeed adjust to our “reality.” I suppose it’s not so bad to focus on gratitude. Even the darkest days we can be thankful dawn will break again, and maybe the sun will shine upon us.

Reads just as well second time round Neville, with an added dimension too. Some are prepared to settle for little when they have known nothing. Can't believe it is ten months since I read these lines last. Some beautiful poetic expression here. Good morning.

This has a nice karmic theme to it through a story told in flashbacks.

It's somehow sad to acknowledge the illusions we created were just that but thought of as real. The art of letting go, not something everyone can master though we keep trying. ..
Thought provoking write here, Neville.

I know it well...the love that takes the beating heart out of you and holds it forever, so you can never think of loving another...even though he, too, is now gone. That's the feeling and memory this lovely piece evokes in me. Fortunately, I love these sad, old memories. They are my heart.

Very good and true Neville. Our lives can be a tottering jenga tower just waiting. We are dupes to self delusion.

the price of loving, the art of forgiveness.. 2 difficult things that every person has to experience but eventually it makes us strong and grow up in wisdom too.

There comes a time in everyone's life when letting go is the best and wisest option. Too many women...and men....feel there is no way out of an abusive relationship. You can write about anything, Neville. Always interesting and always noteworthy. Lydi**

It must take huge courage to leave an abusive relationship, especially if women have children to think about as well. To leave the abuser behind and to seek refuge in the hope of a better life, free from fear and beatings. Some are able to do it, but many more suffer in silence. I also think about young women who through know fault of their own, find themselves trafficked into the sex trade. Those who thought they were coming to this country for a better life with more opportunities to find themselves controlled by evil traffickers, or worse still those young girls resident here already being groomed by gangs. Everyone needs to be on alert and look out for the signs. A world wide problem regretfully, which just compounds my opinions that there is so much evil out there, and it is going on under our noses. Thought provoking write Neville. These poor individuals need expert professional help, but they also need huge courage.
