Your Call

Your Call

A Poem by Neville
"

originally written in 1980 for my lovely friend Zhi Ruo (named after two medicinal herbs) angelica & something else I cant remember.. we shared a small flat on the dark side of town..

"

Your Call

Before you do or say

Anything at all

I want you to stop and

Consider

What it was he said

Not what you thought

He said

Or what you might

Have read into

Those words he left

For you to accidently

Find

In the drawer

You used to keep

Your panties and your

Stockings in

Okay having done that

I want you now

To take

A few deep breaths and

Think of England

Was he really that bad

After all

He never lied not once

Though made you laugh

So very many times

Can you put a price

On that

No I thought as much

Was it worth it in the end

Your call………..

maybe these are simple words to come, but You've put a VERY important message, a cause for many misunderstanding and arguments, sometimes the mind invents something which is not even there, even with words and during conversations, to focus only on the clear speaking/said words not to go there and there will help us to get the main message of them.

now Your second verse, I see even years and years ago You were the same, with this sweet funny cheerful style, and how wonderful is that :)

I have got to stop reading these things in my sleep...I go back and the places are empty....I feel blank...but then I open the panty drawer and there you are all smirks and truths!

words of relationship & conversational wisdom ! 👍
yes so many times people hear what they want to hear & not what's actually being said !
a nice flow of words - i like easy reading poems with shortish lines. does that make me a lazy reader ??

Mmmm that's before my birth heheh :p
That was my first thought when I read the details... :)

Sometimes we end up creating our own meaning to the words spoken and written for that matter... reading in between lines may not be everyone's strong point... a secret message sounds wonderful thing to do... sad that you lost her...

tis true.....
Ofttimes arguments are caused because of misunderstandings. People forget the good others do and jump to ridiculous conclusions. Leaving a note in a lingerie drawer....very romantic if you ask me. Sounds like you really cared for her. Honest emotions here. Lydi**

Chinese names are so delightful. You have reminded me of Jaiqui Wu, a young man who worked with me, but now back in China, a very successful banker. We keep in touch. Your words confirm to me how easy it is to misunderstand, misinterpret meanings, and it can happen quite often. An odd off the cuff remark that someone takes offence to when that was the last thing on the speaker's mind. It is done even easier on the internet and because words are important to me I sometimes think that I may be guilty of not giving clarity with my words. Your second stanza proves you were a good friend, a very good friend. However Neville I am smiling at where that message was keft. Her knicker drawer?

Whatever happened next was her loss.
