Home Maid

Home Maid

A Poem by Neville
"

No bread was harmed during the tasting...

"

Home Maid

Whether from a Sunday roast

Or jar of marmalade

The smells that she referred to

Could only mean home made

Then smiling she looked at him and said

I want to be your daily bread

Thickly sliced and buttered

Made just for you

My love

I want to be a home maid too

It is strange how many deja vu moments I find in reading others work, and today is no different. A group of us are getting together for a sunday roast today, which I havent had in an age. Despite my mouth watering at the thought, I am left wondering as to why it is today of all days, when tonight another group of us are going to the next town over for a night out and a l

I enjoy a beef roast the best but when its cooked for you it doesn't matter what it is lol. Plus the fact she sounds keen as mustard! Nice writing Neville.

Nothing like a Sunday roast, it still has to be my favourite meal. You brought some lovely aromas into your poem and took me on a nostalgia trip. "I want to be your daily bread", how loving is that? An uplifting read Neville, much appreciated.

Lovely, Neville! I have a pork roast in the oven as we speak, with sage and apple stuffing rolled inside, and tiny potatoes being added shortly.
Sunday roast is the order of business here, and I am the home 'maid' who does the cooking and then cleans up the mess left behind, while my husband and father in law watch TV...*sigh* It's a maid's life.
I wish I were a thick piece of buttered bread. That reminds me--time to start the biscuits!

I love how you used food and old-fashioned words. The way this was written was simple yet sweet to get the point across. About a home where your one love will always be.

How kind of you to stop by and check these words out for me Bridget, much appreciated.. Neville
Hell, I am a "home maid" and have been since the day I said, "I do" LOL Some biblical references in this one I think....or am I imagining them? I would love a Sunday roast right about now....my mom always made one on Sundays. Nice memory for me. A very unique write, Neville...but then so many of yours are. Lydi**
