Pick Up Your Head My Darling

Pick Up Your Head My Darling

A Poem by Nichole Ary

Pick up your head my darling
Your father and I didn't create you to slouch.
Pick up your head my darling
it's time to believe that you are worth it.
Pick up your head my darling
there's no more time to cry.
Pick up your head my darling
your momma may be gone but she won't be forgotten.
Pick up your head my darling
go and water the tulips that we love so dearly.
Pick up your head my darling
those hazel eyes weren't made for tears.
Pick up your head my darling
your sadness is hurting me.
Pick up your head my darling,
remember all our long walks down the path to the beach.
Pick up your head my darling
let your vision be limpid again.
Pick up your head my darling
your grief may deep but your depression must be shallow.
Pick up your head my darling
many people will give you empathy.
Pick up your head my darling
tomorrow is a new day.
Pick up your head my darling
remember your purpose.
Pick up your head my darling
you are still my little wren.
Pick up your head my darling
I'm writing to you from the grave.
Pick up your head my darling
don't remember my ice cold touch, remember the warm love.
Pick up your head my darling
your momma still loves you.
