A Question of Love

A Question of Love

A Poem by Astro
"

A heart out of love has questions, a heart in love only answers

"

Why do you do it?

You pile me up like champagne glasses

until I sparkle and overflow with pride.

You hoist my font among the night sky

where I feel akin to the constellations

How does it happen?

That I should offer an outpouring river

deep and strong currents of gratitude

which you taste fully upon my offering

knowing there's infinitely more tribute

What have I done?

Your face betrays the far hidden truth

my wine for you has become too bitter

Now your silver tongue strikes my glass

methodically until foundation crumbles

Who am I really?

To look with honest eyes into the sun

believe in my heart I won't get burned

That I value myself so little, dependent

upon the hollow words of an apparition

Where is the one?

I seek in constant dreaming to embrace

who's body pressing signals in me worth

possessing a flame that draws me closer

but instead of burning me, lights my way

Beautifully written piece... The questions at the beginning of each stanza work very effectively in conveying the nature of the speaker's mind. I agree with Frieda, each one of these stanzas could be a poem alone, but together they sing of the human condition; the way that we open ourselves to vulnerability, knowing that, perhaps, we will end up getting burned, but do it all the same. You have such a tender voice when you write this way...really enjoyable...

Every one of these stanzas could stand alone and be great, all together this is a powerful piece of work Astro...I think we all ask these questions of ourselves and life in or out of love...outstanding read. I really can't pick a favorite they're all affecting and resounding on their own merit...what have I done, I think that one knocked it out of the ballpark for me, or any of the others, ha, yes I enjoyed it in its entirety...bravo.

Very nicely done my friend. Love that fianl question, "instead of burning me, lights my way." Perfectly asked. Questions like this are not always answered, but sometimes, when we open our hearts and our minds they can be. Wonderful piece here Astro.
