The long road

The long road

A Poem by Nick.B
"

Dreaming of the long road

"
Have you felt the pain,
of a dream that was never gained?

Now, maybe I'm no billionaire,
and I still don't care,
maybe I don't own plane
in my life I got carried away,
don't think I own a fast car
on the fast road I'm no threat,

Standing here in the dark, looking at the moon to spark,
no effect in my mind,
Here I go again, trying to go back,
even though back home I'm considered a fool,
maybe they're right, who knows?
Hiding behind a dream, thinking of some lie to tell them.

Daddies little girl wants a brand new car,
she's dreaming of an alibi,
"Honey I need you right now,
you can't just drive as far as you need"
He wants her home with any expense

Early one morning the sun was shining,
a playboy woke up from his bed,
wondering if he's still the same, if his life was not away,
his folks never dreamed for all this, sure it was really rough
he never did like his mamas way of life, his papa's wasn't there enough
Heading off for the west coast, he had a dream getting through

Abandoned all his problems back home
looking in the mirror thinking back to his road
"Don't you think, I better be my way back home?"

Author's Note

We all dreamed of something big, we all thought that we're not average, that we're bigger than anything, maybe unbeatable, that's maybe true who knows? But then life hit like the express train, so we're still back to the basic plan, keep dreaming....(the poem has three main stories)

Thank you for the read and for your review, I appreciate it
Touching piece, love the complex presentation of life and mentioning the reference of the place where we started dreaming is an excellent reflection how the story affects the readers. Great work. Thanks for sharing Nick.

Thank you, I appreciate taking the time...
I sense sadness and forlorn lingering in the rear view mirror...dreams can be the fuel to bring you back home...Nicely done, Nick. :)

nick, the more i read your work, the more i see you bleak views on this life.. must say that life doesn't always go awry, it has ups and it has downs, but we must try and focus on the light in life, if we don't then where is our hope? i know its hard right now, but give this life some time, God will work things out, he always does:)

It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, loneliness comes in all forms. You've written a sad and painful poem, when dreaming on the road is as good as it gets. Great work Nicky.

Not bad. You have a few grammar errors here and there but nothing too major. You have a good concept and you use some very good imagery in this piece. Good work.

dream.
it's not wrong to, i guess, and yes we do think we are unbeatable till out ego gets a hit across the face.
i love the last story, the question implied at the end, the first one about people not understanding hurts.
beautiful poem for a sad thought,
but keep dreaming, it feels better.
