So Forbidden, Yet So Wonderful II

So Forbidden, Yet So Wonderful II

A Poem by Nicole Renee

The years went by, and another

War had fled right through.

By this time, instead of having charcoal

Around her eyes, and sandals on her feet,

The charcoal was replaced with nothing

But rings around her tired eyes,

And her hands were sore from sewing

Torn clothing and red from the dye.

The opportinity to hope was slim,

And her dreams thinned like rice paper.

But her heart was locked up for later,

And saved for the man with the smile of kindess.

Nothing could ever replace her love for him,

And everything that had happened still didn’t
Change it, even as the woman fought

A battle with herself and everything around her,
Fighting for another year until one day,
She was walking by a lily pond,

Her mind going astray in her own little world.
Hope had vanised, and her heart was weaping.

News had struck that the man her heart longed for died

In the World War II, and that there was nothing

That they could do as he layed there dying

In his best friend’s arms.

When she heard the news,

There were many sleepless, dreamless nights,
And whenever the woman closed her eyes,

The only thing that came to mind was

The war bombs hitting all over,

The guns firing at random.

She couldn’t fight her emotions

Like an enemy anymore,
And had broken down with

A filled sadness when the

Death list went around the city.

So as the woman stared into the reflection

Of a broken down, talented artist,

There was another reflection with

A painted, beautiful smile,

A war face proud to show its scars.

At first, emotions ticked and thought

That it wasn’t real, and that her mind

Was playing some wicked old trick

Until the man said that he remember

A beautiful artist that danced around

With confidence and with grace,

Her smile and eyes catching his

Attention when he had seen her perform for a night.

Yet he had known that it would be wrong to get

In the way of the other man and the best friend,

Not wanting to ruin the friend's happiness

On finally finding love in a different place.

So he stepped aside, and waited for so long,
Hoping that in some small way,
That the man would finally be able to

Proclaim his desire and love for the

Woman with the painted face,

Dreaming that she'd love him back.

Pursing her lips from so much happiness,

She couldn't stand being the fighter

Of her own being, and told the man

That she had loved him ever since

They met, his smile filling her mind

With dreams beyond her own,

And saw a kindess that didn't belong

In a world that was corrupt and dreary,

Knowning that she’d never find a man

That was just like him, who was

Gentle with his words, and true to his heart,

Never knowing in a thousand years,
That he’d love her back.

So with an embrace and a tender

Press on the lips, they held

Eachother in the embrace,

Never wanting to let go just in case

One of the two would suddenly disappear,

Leaving the pond hand in hand after

About an hour of love and unforgetableness,

Knowning something that everybody would forever know:

He loved her

And she loved him.

That’s all that mattered

And that’s all that counted.

Nothing could replace the strong bondage

That were could be simplified into one word

And just one word only….that word is

Love.
