Monster

I am a monster.

I am fated to whittle my days away 

alone.

Without friends or family-

without the one I love.

I am a monster.

Destined to be shunned,

destined to be hated by all.

I cannot run away

from this pitiful fate.

Save me God,

from the punishment I must face.

I am a monster.

but I'm a monster.

I can only watch you from afar-

from my fiery grave

from the darkness of human hearts.

But wait! 

I want to be close to you,

I want to touch you-

I want to be able to speak with you!

that you do not fear me so!

That you are not like the rest.

with the monster I am.

So please accept me for who I 

appear to be.

I'm no devil.

is that a sin.

What I do now-

is it not more of a sin.

I cannot break away from the strings of fate.

I appear as a monster-

but I just want to protect you

But alas,

as my time continues on,

I realise I must give up.

Because though I love you-

I'm still a monster.
