Placing These Bricks

Placing These Bricks

A Poem by Nipplegrinder

Words appear on a page.
The spelling is spot on.
The punctuation is perfect.
The syntax, sparkles.
The paragraphs present
a pleasant block with edges
that please the eye.
It appears as a masterpiece.
Most will not know the toil
that placing these bricks of
soul entails.
Some will attempt to read
through tears,
others still, through lenses
of countless colors.
Through the reds of anger.
Through the greens of jealousy.
The blues of loneliness.
The blacks of despair.
Read on, and swallow the colors.
