The World For Us

The World For Us

A Poem by Sophia

Giving too much away
Can cause your heart to break
And discipline gone off paper
Calling angels in vain
And tomorrow's won't be the same
Try harder and be good too
I figured life is just hard
If darling you won't be tough
Go on and prove them wrong

Lifesong, are you looking for a lifesong
And medicine to numb your pain
I'll tell you the truth
This ain't a puzzle
Or a test to pass through
No, it's a life of unforgiving chances, unmissable lessons
And a pile of fake friends too
Then maybe it's not a lifesong you need
But perhaps a good book to read

You're one of the seven billion
Breathing in the same stale air of prison
Living under one star, one nation
But policy can't deem your intellect
Nor society to label you less
But that's what everyone says so
When you don't need everything to rhyme
And just be decent fine
I think that's what beautiful is
It's the giant inside one self
That made one great
