My New Year Revolution

My New Year Revolution

A Poem by Norman223
"

Happy New Year to all my readers.

"

I've given up seeing the New Year in,

Though I approve of Saturnalia .
But in England, it's cold and dark by four
And at staying up late, I'm a failure
So, at the midnight hour I'll be fast asleep
Leaving  the young and hardy to revel
Then I don't have to fear that when I wake up next year
I won't be plagued by the devil
Of a pounding head from New Year's Eve
That only large doses of aspirin relieve.
But I'll arise refreshed from a good night's sleep
Fit to make resolutions, I know I won't keep..

Beautiful and enjoyable!
The New year celebration parties always upset the whole schedule of the following two days and preceding two days in planning..

Needed some reading relief this morning.

to some silly pieces myself.
Thanks Norman.

Heh-heh, I'm like you, Norman. No more raping, pillaging or drinking till midnight for me! And those resolutions--forget about it. Fact is, my disintegrating grey matter wouldn't remember the next morning anyhow.

I love this! You describe my New Year's Eve ritual perfectly! I just can't write off a whole day on a hangover anymore! I also love your regional touch by saying it's dark by four (OK, I'll stop whining about the sun going behind the ridge at three!) You've got my creative juices flowing now on the upcoming topic of the new year . . . hmmm . . . what resolutions might be prudent in our current world? I love your last line, so sassy & true! (((HUGS)))

Had to smile at this one. The older we get the less a new year matters except adding another number to our age. Happy New Year anyway. Kathie
