Sonnet 001A Poem by Effie RayBased on the work of Shakespeare - I wish I was as good as him.Sonnet 001
I know you like a blackbird knows the sky, I’ve felt your harshest wind and calmest breeze. Your gentle touch could halt an infant’s cry, Your might could bring a nation to its knees. There is no light or fire that shines as bright As your smile, from which the sun arises No sky, even at the blackest of nights Can match your eyes from which darkness rises. Your touch, so soft, never fails to woo me With you I am alive, with you I’m free Gaze so harsh I swear you look right through me You own my heart, my soul, all parts of me You brought me up, and you shall bring me down With you I am afloat, with you I drown. © 2012 Effie RayAuthor's Note
