Ignorance: lack of knowledge or information.

Ignorance: lack of knowledge or information.

A Poem by Noting Society

Ignorance is this word that’s thrown around.

Used to help arguments.

It’s a big word that you would think makes you sound,

Intelligent.

But instead the words too over used to actually carry any meaning.

At this point there are people who would probably call anyone who disagrees with them,

“Ignorant.”

The truth is, that’s not the case.

Ignorance is the person who assumes,

Who doesn’t need any information to prove themselves right…or prove wrong?

Because there words are powerful enough to put you in your place.

They don’t need logic to call you an abnormality.

To objectify you.

Because they’re the people who don’t listen to reason.

They don’t want to listen to reason!

Because they don’t need to.

They think that there words can drift you down into nothing but a mute.

So don’t give them the power to exceed you.

Show them who you are,

Never stoop down to their level because what good will that do?

If they speak the truth than admit it’s true.

I guarantee you that person will not know how to respond

To a person who is okay with their imperfections

And is not afraid to admit them,

Because no one’s perfect.

Were all unique.

We need to be the society that at least tries to understand

Each other.

Instead we keep using words and logic that have no facts behind them

Just a lisp.

and I feel so bad for the people who are so ignorant that they go out of their way

to try and hurt others.

I feel bad the people who want to prove fact wrong with the voice of an opinion.

I feel bad for the people who disrespect others when claim is not do.

Because I cannot understand how people can be ignorant enough

To tell a high functioning disabled person

That they will never amount to anything.

Because I cannot understand the person who believes rape doesn’t exist.

Because I do not understand the person who refuses to look up self-harm

To see that attention is not a reason!

…and I suppose that’s where my ignorance lies.

Because I don’t understand.

I don’t think I ever could…
