Violence

Violence

A Poem by Ntandoyenkosi Ngcobo

Violence
There seems to be violence everywhere in the world
today
Why can’t everyone just put all of their weapons
away?
It seems that no one can understand
When someone kills someone
They are killing a part of the family of man
The family of man
Some say that they have a right to kill someone else
Don’t they know when they kill another they’re just
killing their self
As bullets and shells start their reign
When it is all over
Then what will remain
What will remain?
Back when Cain killed Abel, he felt not a bit of regret
But in the end what did Cain get
With a curse and a mark on his head
To wander far from home
To think always of to what it led
To what it led
Now look at where the world is at now
Violence has taken over somehow
Blood in the streets flowing like a river
When it is all gone what will be left behind
Just emptiness of promises delivered
Empty promises delivered
Does it really matter which side that you are on
Who will carry your cause when everyone is gone?
Because in the end of the fall
And everybody is gone no one left to tell the tale
Does it matter who started it all?
Who started it all?
