If I Could Change The WorldA Poem by Ntandoyenkosi Ngcobo
If I Could Change The World
This thought crossed my mind, I sat with my pen and paper, jotting down what crossed my mind that night, What would take the readers on a sensational ride, Knowing it was the beginning but the end of a physical fight, It felt so right, When with the pen I stabbed, And the paper I shielded, Could have been a warrior and ended the Marikana strike, Would have comforted all those families that cried, telling them it would be alright, If I Could Change The World, The sound of an AK47 would not signal a celebration, The youth would not be bound to domination, I would turn around what is written in the books of Revelation, The young ones would not be potato couches comforted by televisions, Which technically eliminates every vision, Not to have ESKOM pull the plug on us, Yet the price increases on candles, Having people run around within dark tunnels, If I Could Change The World Yes I would, Encourage, enlighten, embrace, and evaluate those and the world around, I would fight fear and lies, Favour fruitful friends for they like unbroken ties, Invest intresting ideas for they brightly activate the future for all, Identify intellectual individuals with the power that administers all, Everyone would stand tall, If I Could Change The World, I would do so and cease corruption, Build up on promotions, Take no one for demotion, Do it all freely with no personal emotion, With freedom and devotion, If I Could Change The World. © 2015 Ntandoyenkosi Ngcobo |
