A Poem by Octi
"

A second one.

Just another something
you're going to hurt.
Just another something
you're going to leave behind.

What if it's me?
I don't want you to go.
By leaving me,
you're something behind.

But I'm the first
of many more to come.

What if it's your friends?
They want you to stay,
to smile,
to laugh,
to cry with them
throughout their lives.

What if it's your family?
I know you've got
a mother,
a father,
and a sister,
who love you.

What if it's your pets?
You have a hedgehog.
Who's going to feed him
his special cat food?
Who's going to let him
out of his cage
to add company
to the person
working on homework?

What if it's your belongings?
Without you,
they have no purpose.
They are yours,
and yours only,
not anyone else's.
They could be recycled,
reused,
regiven,
but it will never be the same.

What if it's your teachers?
They will see
an empty seat
in their classroom,
one less head
listening to their lecture.

What if it's you?
You have so much,
and will leave behind more
than what you already have.

So don't go,
stay with the world
to smile,
to laugh,
to cry with everyone you'll ever meet.

Stay to stay.

Author's Note

Octi
For those of you still confused, jas stands for just another something. It's a phrase I use to help a depressed friend make it through her hard times. Everyday, she came up with something/someone else that she would leave behind or would be affected by her death. I know it might seem cruel, but it actually helps her.
