The Insatiable Parasite

The Insatiable Parasite

A Poem by Meghan
"

I owe this to my ex-girlfriend. I still loved her when we parted, but apparently that wasn't enough for her.

"

It’s rage

Stemming from loss

Eroding my stomach lining

Filing down my teeth

It might’ve not ended like this

The penultimate row is tangible

A rancid taste on my tongue

You’re disgust, palpable

And enraging

It’s blood thirst

This insatiable, vengeful compulsion

The corrosive interior

Outwardly lashing

No longer an attempt to ameliorate

But to systematically

Break

Down

The avaricious parasite

Blood-sucking leech

Of good will

And compassion

Drank me dry

Of altruism

It’s malice

Manipulative

Ingenuous

Methodical revenge

Reverse parasitism

I hope with which to smother

And drain you

Of every last drop of me
