Moonlit Avenue

Moonlit Avenue

A Poem by Oliver Free
"

This poem holds special meaning to me, as it's one I wrote for a special someone. I hope you enjoy.

"
On a certain moonlit avenue,
of which many things are new,
my eyes strayed towards one thing,
and that one thing was you.

On a certain moonlit avenue,
where all the people are oh-so-blue,
one thing stood out from the others,
and that one thing was you.

On a certain moonlit avenue,
where you and I both grew,
one thing left and the other stayed,
and that one thing was you.

On a certain moonlit avenue,
my reasons for staying are quite few.
But there was one thing I could never let go,
and that one thing

was you.

Let me know what you think of the repetition. Was it too much/overbearing? Any feedback would be great.

I like the flow of the poem to honest. I think by repeating the 1st and 2nd line in each stanza you gave an attached feeling to the reader which adds a flavor to the overall purpose of the poem. The middle two lines of each stanza presented variations of descriptions which I have really enjoyed...

Thank you, I appreciate the review
I like it, I think some people might have been turned away by the first part that repeats "On a certain moonlit avenue"
On the other hand, I think It flows nicely, and I think it was good to keep a pattern. I do like that line, it adds a little mystery as well as a forbidden love feel.
