What are Lovers?

What are Lovers?

A Poem by Omikron

What are lovers
 And what do they do
Do they shiver at the same time when the wind blows under their clothes
Do they get jealous when the sun steals their kisses
Where do they go when the moon is guiding them
Do they shine together when they are embraced by darkness
Do they share the same shadow when they walk
What are lovers and what do they do
How long will they love
Are they able to know hatred
Do they notice the weakening grip around their waists
If they do, why do they love
Love, love, love is pain when it's spelled right
Love is praised when it hurts the most
And pain is hated when it does not
So we marry the pain when it kisses us
To guide us and hold us near
Keep us dear, keep us safe
Numb us from the fire and icy seas
For that's what lovers are
And that's what lovers do
They marry each other
And they love
