Like the Rain

Like the Rain

A Poem by Omikron

As the water falls like water falls
Down on the dirt that is I
It softens the earth and melts the clay
Slowly I go down the drain
Like the rain
Like the sane
As it falls it covers the tiles on the shower floor
And forms its own little ocean
And little it may be, but has no less of the might
Or the strong will, or the raging power in every wave
And plenty of power there is
Until the water goes down the drain
Like the rain
Like the sane
And the ocean separates
And turns into small streams
Soon, even the streams vanish
What is left are cold tiles
Once covered under a floating roof
Once sheltered, once veiled
From the rain
From the sane
They are nothing but cold tiles
That no one dares to touch
For they will freeze your spine
The cannot demand love or shelter
They cannot fall and dripple and touch
Like the rain
Like the sane
Through the rain, through the sane
I got lost in the fog
I forgot myself and all that is I
I didn't notice that my dirt and earth and clay
Had vanished down the drain
Not even dust I became
I just vanished
Like the rain
Like the sane
