A Moment Unspoken

A Moment Unspoken

A Poem by OnBrokenWings
"

Just a free form, quick poem I wrote mainly to release some of my inner thoughts.

"

In the dew of a tear drop

Gleams a murky truth

Words often held back

In fear

In anxiety

In the crevice of a smile

Hides pain

Locked away for none to see

But the woman in the mask can feel

Immersed in a constant struggle

At times it seems there is an empty hole

She cannot feel

Cannot relate

Cannot think

Then in a single moment

She feels everything

Pain

Guilt

Disgust

Loathing

How easy it seems when she watches others

To communicate

To let words flow freely

To connect with the world outside

Words press against her teeth

Struggling

They want to free

She contemplates how her voice will carry

Almost ready to be seen

But it is too late

Her moment has passed

Soon the moon will rise

And no one will notice

Her tongue never wagged

Her smile was all lies

She will sit alone

Peering from behind the metal bars

As she watches the rest of the world fly free
