Tortured Soul

Tortured Soul

A Poem by Kristen R. Heyl
"

Is there anyone out there for me?

"

Raw uninvited pain washes over me,

as each minute ticks by feels like an eternity.

An eternity of loneliness am I destined to have

or will I be lucky and find my true love?

Surrounded am I all around

by those whose true loves were already found?

Taunted and tortured am I,

as along they take me for the ride.

The best of intentions they have for me

that's why  my pain I won't let them see.

Destined for the rest of my life to be a third wheel

or will I finally find someone worthy to seal the deal?

This a different outlook on being 'the gooseberry' and its very good. It sounds woeful and longing for 'The One' or anyone to share some of your life with. I like the way you question it: that style is quite good rather than listing as people do. i hope you do find someone worthy of your love. Nice writing.
