I SAW THEM HUDDLED

I SAW THEM HUDDLED

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Homelessness...always difficult to see and harder to forget.

"

I SAW THEM HUDDLED

I saw them huddled on the streets,
Disheveled, worn and cold.
I wanted so to look away,
Yet somehow...I was bold.

I walked up to the sleeping pair...
A man and his best friend.
I wondered how to show concern,
And help their souls to mend.

The man looked up when Sparky barked,
And held him when he whined.
The hopeless look within those eyes,
Sent shivers up my spine.

I asked if he was hungry then,
And tears ran down his cheeks.
I handed him some money but
My mouth would hardly speak.

He thanked me many, many times...
I slowly walked away.
As tears began their salty trail,
And I began to pray.
~~~
Most of us have SO much to thank God for.
Just do it!
~~~
(Written for the Thanksgiving season.)

Sharon you touched my heart to it's core with this thought provoking poem that is so sincerely and beautifully written. Wonderful work on the topic of the homeless that is so very prevalent in today's world.
My daughter is currently homeless and has been homeless in the past and it tears at my heart so very much
She lives on the other side of the United States from where I live over a 30 hr drive. I just helped her buy a car, she won't come live with me, we've tried it before and it was not good.
Hugs to you

Thank you so much for your very nice review Tom! Muchly appreciated.~Sharon
A beautifully written piece, for such a distrubed and far too commonly ignored subject.
A testament to the extra large heart of the author.
Sharon, this piece hit close to home for me and is extraordinary
Thank you !
