Four Elements

Four Elements

A Poem by Pakino

Four Elements, One Destiny

Bestowing strength to those in need

Fire of the Phoenix

Guides the traveler with ease

With touch, the coldest of hearts melt in awe

Water of the Tranquil

Calms the mind, and rejuvenates the soul

With its majestic dance of life

Wind of Past

Refreses the senses

Protecting what is dear to the heart

Earth pf Ancient Lore

Infinite wisdom, infinite satistfaction

Presents gifts to those with patience

Four Elements, One Destiny

As the wheels of destiny spin

So does mans desire

Fire of War

Destruction and chaos

Bringer of death

Water of Void

Shunned by society

Replaced by false hallucinations

Wind of Poison

Mischievous child, tainted by greed

Thief of the night

Earth of Forgetfulness

Knowledge replaced by ignorance

Tranquility replaced by ruthlessness

Four Elements, One Destiny

Shrouded in apocalypse

Destruction is upon us

Only the seed of the Earth

Can stop the plague from consuming

Before we fall in abyss

Spreading its children far and wide

Rekindling the lost knowledge of ancient past

Thus is our only hope

Without the seed we would be lost in our vanity

I wrote this in an effort to write poetry about nature. In this particular poem I tried to outline the beauty of nature. And how in modern times we tend to shun nature. Enjoy comments are welcomed.

i loved the dual nature of your elements...you showed how to everything in nature there is another side...that which gives us strength and that which can destroy us. this is something we all need to be mindful of. very well done.

I thought I was reading a poem from the Middle Ages. Rhyme and imagery fit beautifully, it can be applied to the turmoil of today's world: Shrouded in Apocalypse, destruction is upon us. A tremendously realistic religious message. Wonderful poem, deep in philosophy, reminds me of the sci-fi short story by Zelazny: Rose for Ecclesiastes.

According to Indian beliefs, there are five elements in the Nature :

Kshiti ( pronounced as khiti) : the Earth
Ap : The Water
Tej : The Sun,The Energy.
Marut : The Wind
Byom ( pronounced as Bom , as in Rome) : The Sky

Read your interpretation of the elements with interest.

I enjoy your poetry. Few speak with the voice of an old soul or take advantage of the old codes. The way things use to be. It is reminiscent of the romantic views of nature. It is a pity the our world does not share the confines of nature but rather forces nature to accommodate us. A piece of work well done.
