The Allure of Autumn Trees

The Allure of Autumn Trees

A Poem by Bare trees

Walking through a gracefully carpet of Autumn leaves at the Naarder Eng reserve

As sizzling skies of summer
dispensed more heat through hills
October seized its chilly reign
amending heat to chills.

Majestic trees of
birch in sway
along the far off trail,
released a mass of florid leaves
that mounted in the dale.

Each brittle souring parasail
rotated through their whirls
and nose-dived as a regiment
in long befuddled twirls.

Yet, if a blitz of bitter snow
must always take a stance
winter flakes cannot replace
this autumn tree romance.

Thank you.
There is a lyrical feel to the rhythm of this poem. The rhyming is flawless. Your love of nature comes through loud and clear. Yes, Autumn is a beautiful time of year if you live where the leaves change color. Lydi**

You have my thanks.
I could picture winter with her arched brows and haughty face rife with the regret of defeat to a season more gracious than her. The concluding verse is my favourite. Appreciated very much.

I'm glad you liked it. Thank you.
You make me wish it was autumn again. Excellent imagery describing my favorite season. I can see those leaves sometimes falling lazily and at other times yanked from the branches slapping against the windows. Metering makes for easy reading and it was an enjoyable reminder of autumns beauty!

Thank you, Karen.
This is beautifully written, and ends with a killer line. The musicality is also fluid enough, but the only line that doesn't work is "for many leaves fallen" (it's missing a "have" or to have the "fallen" be before "leaves"....and tweak the second line accordingly). Other than that - well done!!

Thanks for pointing that out. It would sound better with a 'have' in there. Thanks for reading.
I love the last stanza!

A colorful seasonal poem ending with the promise of winter arriving soon. Very visual and scenic with nature in mind.
Nice graphic image, too.
