What of love's elusiveness

What of love's elusiveness

A Poem by 1VJ

What of love's elusiveness
beyond vapors' rapid dismissal,
those smoky embers
that once burnt wildly,
mercurial, volatile fickleness - -
merely rekindling disdain,
within an extinguishing smolder

I have loved and lost many times, Little Dove, but never have I taken disdain away with me … for, though I am no longer in-love, I still love, respect, and honor each of them deeply, as they are fine ladies who still love me, too, each in their own way.
Ah, but this poem is not about me … it is about You and your considerable poetic skills, and you definitely are more than a little envious worthy!

"Love."
What is more varied, deep, emotional, spiritual, arousing, invigorating, painful, ecstatic, enthralling … you think of it and it fits.
I can so truly relate to your words, they touch so many places in me where memory lives that I cannot gather enough words to express them all, but one thing I can say to you is this, never let disdain, fickleness, or anything else stand in the way of falling in-love; for, there is nothing more monumentally blissful between two willing individuals in all the world.

Thank you so very-very much for sharing this amazingly powerful piece, Dove … hugs to you! 〜 Richard

You know I'm smiling at Little Dove. You're a lucky man if you've always ended on a high note, love.. read more

Ohh what a beautiful poem. Your vivid picture of being unable to help when Love gets elusive is beautiful. Everything is just a phase I believe. I like it so much.

Fan the embers that they become a flame once more, that is hot (forgive the I could not stop myself). You are right though, once the flame dwindles you never know what you will rekindle. I have known many couples your poem describes their whole relationships, hot then cold then warm, on again off again but it was always intense. Bravo!

Intensity is always good unless it gets to the point where it's stifling. Thanks Bear!
Beautiful wording and a well crafted piece. The font is a little hard to read though. But really well penned.

Thanks so much for your kind words, perhaps if it was larger it'd be easier to read.
Those smoky embers, once burnt wildly. You have captured this beautifully Paloma. Love the feel in the words.
